70 Volunteers Mark 20th Anniversary of Elzach-Yach Landscape Maintenance Day

On September 27, 2025, around 70 volunteers gathered in Elzach-Yach for the annual landscape maintenance day, marking the event's 20th anniversary. Organized by several local associations and the county administration, the day saw participants maintain mountain farms and hiking trails, with a new children's program introduced for the first time.

The event, held 20 years after the first one in 2005, was a collaborative effort by the Landscape Conservation Association of Emmendingen County, the city of Elzach, the Yach Landscape Conservation and Homeland Association, and the Emmendingen County Administration. Volunteers were divided among mountain farms to clear overgrown pastures, maintain dry stone walls, and repair hiking trails.

A notable addition this year was a children's program, which saw 10 young participants engage in activities such as dredging a pond, building bird feeders, and grooming horses. Despite searches, the coordinator's name for this new initiative remains unknown.

The 20th anniversary landscape maintenance day in Elzach-Yach concluded with a meal for the participants, celebrating their hard work and dedication to preserving the local landscape. The event's success highlights the community's commitment to conserving and maintaining the region's natural beauty.
