The Power Couple: Jana Ina and Giovanni Zarrella, a 20-Year Strong Team
An Experienced Group Spanning Two Decades - A cohesive unit for two decades: our bond has strengthened over time.
Being married for twenty years, raising two teenagers, juggling insane schedules - you'd think it'd be a recipe for disaster. But not for Jana Ina (48) and Giovanni Zarrella (47). These two lovebirds have found the secret sauce to maintaining a strong bond: mutual admiration, zero competition, and unwavering support.
During a video shoot with energy provider Eon at their testing lab in Essen, Jana Ina couldn't help but gush about their partnership. "We're each other's biggest fans. It's all about support, no competition," she shared. Despite the chaos that comes with shows, broadcasts, school, and their bustling calendars, they manage to stay on top of things by using a shared family calendar and setting aside quality time for themselves. Family always comes first: "We want to be there for our children's special moments. Even if it means sacrificing some sleep, we'll catch up later."
20 Years and Counting: Planning Their Anniversary
Next month, the lovebirds will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary. But don't expect any grand plans or surprises. They tend to live in the moment and find that their spontaneous approach works best for them. As Jana Ina laughs, "We're just winging it right now, but we'll figure it out."
Despite their public lives, Jana Ina and Giovanni know exactly where the line between private and professional lies. "I share a lot about our daily life on Instagram, make jokes about life with teenagers. But the kids are off-limits - and that's respected," Jana Ina revealed. Their approachability is evident when people treat them like friends or neighbors. "My husband can have a chat with every baker. As long as people are nice, we return the favor," she said.
Teamwork - Not Just for the Kids
Jana Ina and Giovanni's teamwork doesn't stop at parenting and scheduling. They're also a fantastic duo when it comes to energy conservation. "He keeps an eye on the smart tariffs so I can charge my car flexibly when it's cheapest. I'm the one who turns off the lights or unplugs devices when I'm not using them," Jana Ina explained during the Eon Germany video shoot. Even the children join in: "They often remind us to turn off the lights when we don't need them."
Sustainability is a natural part of Jana Ina's daily life. After switching from a hybrid to a fully electric car, installing solar panels is on her to-do list. "We saw them at a neighbor's house and thought, 'That looks great.' I did some research on our walks, and now I can charge my car at home with the solar panels - and that's fantastic."
Jana Ina's newfound knowledge about her car's charging habits fills her with a sense of pride: "I used to think my charging box was broken. But now I know: I have a flexible tariff that lets my car charge at night when electricity demand is lower - better for the environment and my wallet." And Giovanni approves: "My husband is a true Swabian - he's very thrifty," Jana Ina shared with a laugh.
"We always make sure devices aren't left on all the time at home. You don't need to keep a smartphone charger plugged in all day. Just plug it in when you need it. There are so many ways to save electricity these days, and it all adds up to a significant impact by the end of the year. You save electricity, help the environment, and do your part," Jana Ina concluded.
