In the picturesque village of Denham, a piece of local history is up for grabs. Wellers Mead, an 18th-century converted country home, is now on the market for £3,550,000. This property, known as one of the most historic in the village, offers a unique blend of charm and modern luxury.

Wellers Mead boasts a wide white facade with Dutch-inspired gabling, mint green shuttered sash windows, and porthole windows. The home covers 8,131 sq ft and features seven bedrooms, five reception rooms, a country-style kitchen with a royal blue Aga at its heart, and an indoor swimming pool.

The back of the home overlooks the River Misbourne, which becomes a mill race. Mature shrubs and trees overhang the water surrounding the gardens, making for a serene and private setting. The home is surrounded by flat, wrap-around lawns and is draped in greenery.

The historic Wellers Mead has a rich history. Sir John Mills, a renowned British actor, and his wife, Mary Hayley Mills, lived in Denham, Buckinghamshire from 1942. In 1975, they were involved in a bidding war for Wellers Mead but lost to the current owners. Despite this, they became good friends with the current occupants.

Gary Hersham of Beauchamp Estates, the estate agency handling the sale, describes Wellers Mead as 'a landmark property in the stunning Denham Conservation Area.' The home is located in an area that has a rich film history, thanks to the placement of Denham Film Studios post-war.

Denham Place, another historic home in the area, was used as M's office in several 007 movies. Interestingly, Denham Place was once owned by Harry Saltzman, co-producer of nine Bond films.

The current owners of Wellers Mead remain private, but it's clear that this home is steeped in history and charm. For those seeking a piece of British history, Wellers Mead could be the perfect choice.

The sale of Wellers Mead is being handled by Beauchamp Estates and Hamptons. For more information, potential buyers can visit their respective websites.
