"A Thrilling Day Out: Exploring the Novel Kidplex Indoor Playground in San Ramon"
SAN RAMON, CALIFORNIA - The San Francisco Bay Area is currently experiencing a heavy rainstorm, with much of the East Bay under a flood watch. Amidst the wet weather, families with young children might find solace at KidPlex, a new indoor play space located on the second floor of City Center Bishop Ranch.
KidPlex, now operating in the same space as the former PlayStar Kids, caters to families seeking a fun and engaging indoor environment for their little ones. Upon visiting, a three- and four-year-old duo declared it as the "best day ever."
PlayStar Kids, a previous tenant, was noted for its minimal interior, consisting mainly of two open storefronts combined with portable play items. However, KidPlex has transformed the space into a more customized and long-term solution, with a massive, multi-story ball pit and climbing structure on the left half of the space.
The ball pit is interactive, containing monochromatic balls that can be shot or dropped at various features. The four-year-old tester was particularly excited about the ability to make balls fall from the ceiling.
In addition to the ball pit area, KidPlex offers various pretend play stations, including wooden kitchens, push carts, and other quieter play items. There's also an interactive video wall, allowing kids to create and watch their drawings come to life on a giant screen.
Much like PlayStar Kids, KidPlex is designed for children aged six and under. While older kids were present during our visit, they seemed to be accompanying younger siblings. For families with preschool and younger elementary school-aged children, KidPlex offers an excellent rainy-day destination to let their energy out and get a sense of independence during play.
The entire space is new and immaculate, fitting in well with City Center's overall aesthetic. It's worth noting that KidPlex is on the pricier side, with a cost of approximately $35 for two children on a weekend day. However, this price point aligns with the City Center's overall atmosphere, where family lunches can easily add up to $100 at restaurants like Dumpling Time or Delarosa.
Compared to other options like Lindsay Wildlife, a less expensive museum, or trampoline parks like Rockin' Jump, KidPlex offers a unique, self-contained space where parents can supervise their kids comfortably while they play. Its structure also makes it an ideal destination for grandparents seeking an engaging activity with the younger generation.
Overall, KidPlex is a welcome addition to San Ramon's family-friendly indoor play spaces, ready to serve the community as a fun, modern, and clean destination for kids to enjoy.
