Acker's 2022 'Fair Play' Festival to Promote Sustainable Living
Acker, a social enterprise established in 2014, is committed to reconnecting children with nature and food sources through hands-on learning. With over 160 employees, Acker collaborates with schools, companies, and municipalities to foster sustainable consumption habits. The 2022 AckerFestival, themed 'Fair Play', is scheduled to take place in Berlin this September.
Since its inception, Acker has engaged over 400,000 children and young people across 1,960 learning sites. The organization offers educational programs such as AckerRackers for kindergartens, Vegetable Ackerdemy for schools, and AckerBreak for communities and companies. Christoph Schmitz, the founder and CEO, leads the team in driving systemic change through education, economy, politics, and civil society.
Notable achievements in sustainable progress include MAXX SOLAR & ENERGIE's innovative solar projects. In 20 years, they have trained over 3,500 solar engineers and reduced CO2 emissions by over 1,300 tons. Similarly, Henkel has exceeded its goal of reaching 30 million people through education and engagement by 2030, originally set in 2010.
The upcoming AckerFestival, launched last year, will bring together stakeholders to think systemically about education, economy, politics, and civil society for lasting change. With its impactful programs and notable achievements, Acker continues to make strides in promoting sustainable consumption habits and reconnecting children with nature and food sources.
