Hitting Komarovka Market Before the Weekend

The bustling Komarovka market in Minsk serves as a hub for residents stocking up on groceries before the weekend. Here's a sneak peek at the prices you might find, as journalistic investigators recently checked out the popular items on offer, including various meats, dairy, and produce.

Savory Meat Delights

In terms of pork, you can expect the following prices: ham, 9-13 rubles per kg; ribs, 12-14; shoulder, 9.5-12; ham hock, 5-7; neck, 9.5-12; tenderloin, 17-22; neck, 16-24; fillet, 13.5-22; bacon, 10.

For bacon enthusiasts, farm-raised options can be purchased for 20-30 rubles per kg, while regular sausages go for 25-45. When it comes to beef, prices are as follows: ham and fillet, 40 rubles per kg; shoulder, 30; brisket, 25; ribs, 25; shank, 15-20; neck, 30.

As for poultry, home-raised chickens are 18-30 rubles per kg, rabbits are 30, while turkey, duck, and goose can be found for 35.

For specific cuts of chicken, the chicken fillet is 12-14 rubles, with breasts going for 9-10, thighs at 8.5-9, drumsticks, wings, and shanks at 6-7 each, and ham at 6.8.

Dairy Bounty

When it comes to dairy products, prices are roughly the same in supermarkets, but cheese seems to be cheaper at Komarovka. A liter of milk costs 2.2 rubles, 400g of 25% fat sour cream is 3.5, and 200g of cottage cheese goes for 2.3.

Belarusian cheese can be found for 16-20 rubles per kg, with more expensive options ranging from 20-45 rubles. Premium imported cheeses start at 45 rubles per kg, and there are also luxury imported cheeses priced at 180 rubles per kg.

Veggies and Fruits

Cabbages and garlic can be found for an affordable 4.5 and 20-30 rubles per kilogram, respectively. Carrots are priced at 4 rubles, while potatoes, unfortunately, are not encouraging – last year's potatoes are 5-6 rubles per kg, with new potatoes costing 8-12. Onions, on average, cost 6 rubles per kg, but the cheapest options might be small.

Red and white onions are 15-20 rubles per kg, while simple greens are 1.5 rubles per 100 grams. Dried white mushrooms are currently 350 rubles per kilogram, champignons are 8-12.

For those craving fruit, strawberries, blueberries, apples, pineapples, apricots, bananas, oranges, pears, and kiwi can be found at various prices, from 4 rubles to 100 rubles per kilogram.
