Chemnitz - It's time to warm up those muscles and limber up those toes! On June 21, Chemnitz is poised to break the world record for the longest ballet class, surpassing the competition in style, thanks to ballet director Sabrina Sadowska of Theater Chemnitz.
"With Hannover snatching the record previously, I just had to recapture the crown for Germany, especially considering this is the year of the European Capital of Culture. Why not here in Chemnitz?" remarks the theaters.
The city center will be transformed into the stage, with construction fences elegantly converted into "ballet bars" stretching from the Red Tower through Düsseldorf Square to New Market.
Chemnitz's Mayor Stötzer's Post-Retirement PlansYou can bet your tutu that participants will grace these ballet bars, practicing, stretching, and dancing en pointe. Expect to perform classical moves such as pliés, tendus, and other timeless exercises.
"The class will cater to beginner level dancers, ensuring everyone can join in the fun," said the organizers.
For those who need a little extra guidance, professional ballet dancers from Ballet Chemnitz will demonstrate their pirouettes along the route.
This ambitious feat requires no less than 1,600 people to endure from first to last minute. Only then can Chemnitz oust the current record of 1,535 participants and claim its rightful title.
