Bavarian Minister-President Joins Regional Pond Farming Celebration
Bavarian Minister-President Dr. Markus Söder joined local pond owners and enthusiasts in Langenzenn-Horbach for a carp fishing event. The September 2025 gathering, supported by the Bavarian State Ministry for Nutrition, Agriculture and Forestry, celebrated regional pond farming and its sustainable practices.
The event, held opposite the Gasthof and Landhotel Seerose, highlighted the deep roots of pond farming in the region. Around 200 pond owners in the cooperative jointly manage their ponds, maintaining installations passed down through generations. The initiative 'Good from the Fuerth Land' aims to strengthen regional value chains and promote ecological responsibility, agricultural know-how, and culinary enjoyment.
After the successful fishing, guests enjoyed regional fish specialties. The menu included fish rolls, carp chips, and baked carp, all prepared with care by the Gasthof Seerose. The event was a success for regional cuisine, agriculture, and rural tourism, attracting notable figures like Dr. Markus Söder.
Despite challenges posed by climate change, regional pond farming continues to thrive. The event demonstrated the importance of sustainable, resource-saving practices in close coordination with natural cycles. With support from initiatives like 'Good from the Fuerth Land', the future of regional pond farming looks promising.
