Brewery Fachcherbräu eyes takeover of historic Brauhaus 2.0 in Knielingen

The negotiations between Fächerbräu and the public housing company are still in progress, but business manager Christopher Wertz remains optimistic. He emphasizes good communication and anticipates the beer garden's opening as early as this summer. The indoor areas are expected to follow in the fall or winter.

The Pentecost weekend will see the beginning of festivities with Fächerbräu hosting the Karlsruhe Brewery Festival in partnership with Wolf Brewery. On July 11, another event is scheduled as part of the "Long Night of Breweries." To date, Fächerbräu operates mobile beer stands at events and supplies various catering businesses.

Wertz explains that Fächerbräu operates as a 'cuckoo brewery,' renting space at other private breweries in the region to brew their beer. The team is expanding production by moving towards a fixed, own brewing facility, using their own ingredients, such as hops, malt, and yeast, at the "Brauhaus 2.0."

Plans are also underway for the culinary side, with potential catering partners being discussed, or the possibility of using in-house trained chefs. The brewery aims to offer fair prices, appealing to consumers who value organic quality, their unique selling point in Karlsruhe.

Fächerbräu places a strong emphasis on sustainability, using regional ingredients and eco-friendly electricity from city works. Hop vines have already been planted in the outdoor area, while plans are in place for a hop vine to adorn the premises. The hop harvest will be celebrated at the proposed "Hop Zupfer Fest."

Futures plans include beer tastings, brewing courses, guided tours of the brewery, and live soccer game broadcasts. Wertz concludes that the location offers a wealth of opportunities for diverse events.

The Karlsruhe Brewery Festival, held in partnership with Wolf Brewery, will showcase Fächerbräu's lifestyle, including food-and-drink offerings. Plans for the future include a "Hop Zupfer Fest," celebrating the home-and-garden grown hops used in their beer.
