Charity Concert Supports Equal Chances for Lions
Lions Club Charity Concert to Boost Learning Opportunities for Disadvantaged Students
On Friday, March 28, the St. Matthiaskirche in Neuwied will host an evening of music to support the Lernhelden project. The charity concert, organized by the Lions Club Neuwied-Andernach, aims to provide much-needed assistance to primary school students from socially disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Lions Club has a longstanding history of social involvement in Deichstadt, and this concert marks their fifth charitable event. Each year, the events have grown in scale, and the upcoming concert is expected to attract a full house. High-profile artists have been secured for the evening, promising a captivating performance.
Cellist Benedict Kloeckner, a brilliant Neuwieder soloist who frequently collaborates with renowned international orchestras, is one of the featured artists. Pianist Sophia Pacini from Munich, who honed her skills at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, will also perform. Opening the concert will be the talented guitar duo, Sophie and Marc Lüfing, who have claimed top awards at the "Jugend musiziert" federal competition.
Neuwied's Mayor, Peter Jung, and Stephan Amstad from the municipal children and youth office (KiJub), appreciate the Lions Club's decades-long dedication to their city. The pair highlighted the notable impact of Wolfgang Sulzbacher, the Activity Officer for the Lions Club, praising his selfless commitment over the years. A noteworthy collaboration between the Lions Club, Diakonie Neuwied, and the city youth office in the Raiffeisenring previously provided after-school care to children and young people.
The Lernhelden project will benefit from the concert's proceeds for at least one year. The initiative aims to help primary school students who face educational hurdles due to their socio-economic circumstances, lack of German language skills, or migration background. By offering regular and needs-based homework support at the participating schools, the Lernhelden project endeavors to address the problem of insufficient financial resources and uphold these students' rights to education.
Attendees can buy tickets for the concert at selected retail outlets or online. The event starts at 6 PM, with doors opening a half hour earlier. Ticket sales will directly fund the Lernhelden project for its future development and expansion.
