Charity event titled 'Play For Archer' is all set to create a rhythm next Saturday at the Almonte Civitan Community Hall
In the heart of Almonte, a charity festival named Play For Archer is set to take place, aiming to provide support for the Lowe family, the bus driver, and R. Tait McKenzie Public School. The event, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, from 4 to 10 p.m., will be held at the Almonte Civitan Community Hall.
Organized by Lindsay Chunik and her band Love & Mayhem, Play For Archer has a noble purpose: to help the community come together and support the family of nine-year-old Archer Lowe, who tragically passed away six weeks ago in a collision with a school bus while riding his bicycle in Almonte.
The festival aims to not only provide financial assistance but also to create a memorial for Archer and to ensure the family knows they have a community to lean on during this difficult time.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at various locations around Almonte, including Nicholson's Sundries, Keepers Coffee Bar, Almonte Fitness Centre, Baker Bob's, Circle K (Appleton Side Road), and Textile Traditions of Almonte. For those who wish to help but cannot attend, businesses or individuals can email [email protected].
Admission is $10 per person, whereas entry is free for those aged 16 and below. The Almonte Civitan Club will operate the bar at the event, with the proceeds going to the club.
The lineup for the event is impressive, featuring local artists such as Andy Morrone, Alison Postma, Elsbeth Farrell, Brody Farrell (with band Headrush), and Raphael (Raph) Storto. Mamma's Place Restaurant & Pizzeria, Canada Cotton Candy, and a barbecue place in the Friendly Fires parking lot in Carleton Place will be food vendors at the event.
Lindsay Chunik, the organizer of Play For Archer, has not previously met Sarah Lavergne and Nathan Lowe - the parents of Archer. However, she reached out to Sarah before publicly expressing her desire to pursue organizing the event, and she only moves forward with Sarah's blessing.
The organizers of Play For Archer are also seeking corporate sponsors to assist in covering the hall rental fee, which amounts to $1,200. If you or your business are interested in sponsoring this worthy cause, please consider reaching out to the organizers.
