China Tang at The Dorchester Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Expansion and Literary Supper Club Series

China Tang at The Dorchester, the iconic Chinese restaurant in London, is marking its 20th anniversary with a series of exciting developments. The restaurant, which has maintained its signature 1930s Shanghai Art Deco aesthetic after recent interior refurbishments, is undergoing a period of significant expansion.

In collaboration with various cultural entities beyond dining, China Tang at The Dorchester is set to open Dim Sum by China Tang at Harrods Dining Hall in autumn 2024. Additionally, the restaurant will launch its first Middle East location at The Lana in Dubai this May.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, China Tang at The Dorchester will host a literary supper club series in partnership with EA Festival. The series will take place in the restaurant's private dining rooms and will feature authors whose works explore Chinese culinary heritage and historical legacy.

The literary supper club series will include intimate author talks, providing guests with a unique opportunity to engage with the authors and learn more about their works. Huishan Zhang, a renowned Chinese fashion designer, has been commissioned to create bespoke staff uniforms for China Tang at The Dorchester. The uniforms, in his distinctive East-meets-West style, add a touch of elegance to the restaurant's ambience.

Nathalie Ford, vp Europe and Middle East for China Tang, stated that the anniversary honours Sir David Tang's legacy and the generations of guests who have made the restaurant a cherished part of their lives. She emphasised that the restaurant remains dedicated to delivering the same understated glamour, timeless hospitality, and genuine warmth envisioned by Sir David Tang.

The refurbished China Tang at The Dorchester continues to serve its renowned Peking duck and dim sum alongside an extensive Cantonese menu in the main dining area, atmospheric bar, and private rooms. The restaurant's commitment to excellence is evident in every detail, from the new carpets and updated design elements to the impeccable service provided by the staff wearing Huishan Zhang's bespoke uniforms.

From October, China Tang at The Dorchester will once again be at the forefront of London's dining scene, offering guests a unique blend of culture, cuisine, and conversation. Whether you're a regular patron or a first-time visitor, the literary supper club series promises to be an unforgettable experience.
