Construction initiation in Minsk: new residential area due for development

In the heart of Minsk, a new residential and mixed-use development project is taking shape. Known as the Kazakhstan Quarter, this ambitious project is the result of a unique collaboration between Belarus and Kazakh partners. The aim is to create a modern urban area that reflects some Kazakh cultural elements, making it a unique addition to Minsk's skyline.

Spanning over 4.6 hectares, the quarter will consist of a mix of multi-apartment buildings and individual residential units. The development will feature seven multi-apartment buildings, including three 18-story M111-90 towers and four 9- or 10-story M464-U1M high-rises. A total of 682 apartments will be constructed, with a combined area of over 39,000 m2.

To complement the modern design, the facades of the houses will be in calm sandy shades, while Kazakh ornaments and panoramic glazing will be emphasized. A multi-level parking lot will also be built for the convenience of the residents of the high-rises.

In rural settlements, 39% of the total commissioning in the republic was conducted for the Kazakhstan Quarter. For large families, 239,000 m2 of housing was built, with individual residential buildings accounting for 53% of the total commissioning. Housing for those on the waiting list accounts for 31%, and housing for those building with state support accounts for 19%.

It's worth noting that during the same period, a total of 1.85 million m2 of housing was commissioned across Belarus. In various regions, significant construction was undertaken. For instance, in Minsk, 287,000 sq.m of total area was built, in the Minsk region - 541,000 sq.m, in Grodno - 182,000 sq.m, in Brest - 264,500 sq.m, in Vitebsk - 151,000 sq.m, in Mogilev - 203,500 sq.m, and in Gomel - 219,000 sq.m.

While specific details about the current construction status or timeline of the Kazakhstan Quarter are not readily available, it's clear that substantial progress has been made. Work is underway to clear the site, with eleven production buildings of the former "Santekhdetal" enterprise already demolished.

For the latest detailed updates on the Kazakhstan Quarter, it's recommended to consult official Minsk city planning resources, Belarusian construction and development agencies, or news outlets with local coverage in 2025.
