Dog-centric events commence August 1st and pet adoptions are now available at Point Perk
The Point Perk Coffee Shop in Covington is gearing up for a special event on Friday, August 8, 2025. The Dog Days event, a one-day celebration focused on dogs and community support, will take place from 5 p.m. onwards [1].
This event is a collaboration with the Stray Animal Adoption Program (SAAP), an all-volunteer, non-profit organisation that rescues, protects, and provides care for at-risk pets [2]. The day promises to be filled with dog-themed merchandise, homemade treats for dogs, and a vote for the Pup of The Perk [1].
The Point Perk, one of three social enterprises operated by The Point/Arc, was established in 2015 to provide vocational training to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) [3]. The Point/Arc, a 53-year-old nonprofit organisation, aims to enrich and empower these individuals by providing meaningful work opportunities and community integration [1].
The employees at The Point Perk are highly motivated by the presence of dogs. Their positive interactions with dogs that visit with their owners daily have inspired the Dog Days event [4]. Prizes will be awarded for the top three dogs voted by the employees during the event [5].
The Point/Arc, founded in 1972 by a group of parents fighting for the educational rights of children with I/DD, owns and operates 18 well-maintained group homes in Northern Kentucky, housing nearly 70 residents [6]. The organisation's mission is to help people with disabilities achieve their highest potential educationally, socially, residentially, and vocationally [7].
In addition to the Dog Days event, The Point Perk is also planning a month-long special drink for the occasion [8]. The coffee shop will be decorated with photographs of customers' dogs throughout the event [9].
The Dog Days event at The Point Perk is not just a fun day out for dogs and their owners, but also an opportunity to support a worthy cause and enrich the work environment for employees with I/DD [4]. So, mark your calendars for Friday, August 8, 2025, and join The Point Perk for a pawsome day!
