Downtown Seattle's PCC Community Markets is Set to Unveil Its Opening Date

PCC Community Markets Announces Financial Turnaround and Reopening of Downtown Seattle Location

PCC Community Markets, a co-op based in the Pacific Northwest, has reported a significant improvement in its financial performance for 2024. The co-op saw a 3% increase in sales, reaching approximately $450 million, and posted a modest profit of $485,000, marking its first profit since 2021.

According to PCC's CEO, the co-op made substantial progress on its multiyear plan toward sustained profitability and financial health in 2024. This progress was supported by increased member patronage and special member offers. Active membership grew nearly 2% to over 118,000 members, and member benefits were enhanced, including discounts and free organic produce offers.

The financial performance indicates a positive turnaround for PCC after previous challenges. One of the key factors in this turnaround is the reopening of its downtown Seattle location, which closed in late 2021 due to unprofitability. The reopened store, named PCC Corner Market, is smaller in size and designed to cater to commuters, visitors, and local residents during weekdays.

PCC Corner Market will serve shoppers Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The store offers grab-and-go items for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, as well as deli products from the PCC Market Kitchen, a hot bar, salad bar, fresh sushi, an assortment of beer and wine, everyday grocery staples, and essentials.

The reopening of PCC Corner Market next month will include live music, free samples, and giveaways to the first 50 shoppers. The store aims to reflect the communities it serves and celebrate local talent, as evidenced by the inclusion of Andrea M. Wilbur-Sigo of the Squaxin Island Tribe's artwork in the store.

Eli Dorr-Fay, a longtime PCC employee, has been named store manager of PCC Corner Market. The co-op's rebranding success is noteworthy, as it was reported to have closed its downtown Seattle location due to unprofitability in late 2021. PCC Community Markets was named one of Progressive Grocer's Outstanding Independents for 2025.

In conclusion, PCC Community Markets has made a remarkable comeback, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in the face of challenges. The co-op's financial turnaround and the reopening of its downtown Seattle location are promising signs for the future of PCC Community Markets.

As PCC Community Markets reopens its downtown Seattle location, offering a curated selection of food-and-drink items such as grab-and-go meals, deli products, and an assortment of beer and wine, it's clear that lifestyle changes are in store for the urban dwellers in this area. With the store's home-and-garden section stocked with essentials and everyday grocery staples, PCC Corner Market appears to be a one-stop-shop for local residents, commuters, and visitors, thereby catering to various lifestyles. The upcoming reopening also includes unique features like live music, free samples, and giveaways, emphasizing the co-op's commitment to promoting a vibrant community atmosphere.
