Eco-region's apple cropping operation led by Schlaraffenburger company
On Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, an exciting opportunity awaits those who love nature and organic produce. The 'Apple Happiness' action, a family-friendly apple-picking event, is taking place at the orchard in Finkenweg and Kälberauerweg, Alzenau-Wasserlos.
Organised by the eco-model region of the district in collaboration with Schlaraffenburger, this event promises to be an educational and enjoyable experience for all. The goal is to strengthen orchard farming as a sustainable form of agricultural management, ensuring its continuity for future generations.
Participants will have the chance to gain insight into the production of organic apple juice, learn about various apple varieties, and discover the diverse array of animals and plants that call the orchard home. Activities include shaking trees, collecting, and loading apples.
To participate, registration is required. You can register by email at [email protected] or by phone at 06021/6283208. Remember to wear weather-appropriate clothing, Wellington boots, and gloves.
The event's motto, 'Harvest, Share, Connect,' encapsulates the spirit of the day. Over 300 different apple varieties are represented in the orchard, and more than 20,000 trees are collected for apples annually.
Pruning and maintenance work help preserve old orchards, ensuring the preservation of old and native apple varieties. A shared snack is promised for the hardworking helpers at the end of the event.

The collaboration between Schlaraffenburger and the district has been ongoing since 2007, making this event a testament to their shared commitment to sustainable agriculture.
Join us for a day of learning, fun, and apple-picking at the 'Apple Happiness' event. We look forward to seeing you there!
