The ZDF team has had exclusive access to the manor house for a day, with the scenes filmed there set to be part of the anniversary edition "10 years of Manor House Rescuers," to be broadcast from the Baltic Sea coast to the Black Forest in October.
The manor house, with its partial neo-Renaissance architecture, has been tastefully restored by the family McBride, who found a quiet, dignified place for their vast archive of the famous American photographer Will McBride in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The archive contains no less than 350,000 negatives and an equal number of slides, featuring famous contemporaries of the post-war era such as Romy Schneider, Donna Summer, John F. Kennedy, or Konrad Adenauer.
The manor house, now under heritage protection, is considered by experts like garden conservationist Caroline Rolka from the University of Neubrandenburg to be one of the most beautiful in the manor house land of MV. The park surrounding the house, which was previously neglected, has also been restored by the family McBride.
Friedericke von Stackelberg, who lives near Marlow and has been inspired by her surroundings in New York, West Africa, Munich, Bucharest, Berlin, and now Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is currently showing her quiet paintings with humanless motifs in the manor house. Two days of shooting were required to capture all the interesting aspects of the manor house.
The manor house is not the only historic site in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern suitable for film and TV productions. Schwerin Castle, dating back to 973 and extensively developed in the 1800s, is a grand palace surrounded by gardens and a scenic lake, with architectural and historical qualities that have made it attractive as a filming location.
