With his kite completed, Mr. Sykes decides to take it to Dilly Dally Hills for its first flight the next morning. Little does he know, the fairies of flight have been watching and have a surprise in store for him.
As he prepares to fly his kite, a gentle voice tells him that the fairies of flight have chosen him to fly their magic kite. To his astonishment, the kite rises by itself into the air without Mr. Sykes running with it.
With a firm grip on the string, Mr. Sykes is brought up into the sky, where he witnesses a land where everything flies, including fish, houses, creatures, spaceships, and fairies. The fairies guide him on a tour and tell him he can return anytime he wants.
After the breathtaking experience, Mr. Sykes is brought back to earth and reels in his kite calmly. He puts away his hats and prepares to fly his kite again, knowing that the wind owes him two hats.
