English Garden: Introduction to the Second Wave for E2 Participants

Munich, Germany - Surfers in Munich are set to benefit from improved access to the Dianabad wave in the English Garden, following a land swap between the Free State and the city. The announcement was made by Bavarian Minister-President Markus Söder (CSU) and Munich's Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD).

The Dianabad wave, also known as Eisbach wave 2 or E2, is a separate surfing location from the world-famous Eisbach wave at the Haus der Kunst. Unlike the Eisbach wave, which is considered more suitable for experienced surfers due to its strong current and rough conditions, the Dianabad wave is considered easier for beginners.

Access to the Dianabad wave has been hindered in recent times due to residents moving a fence to their property line, making it difficult for surfers to reach the wave. However, this issue is set to be resolved as access from the city side will be made possible as early as spring.

The approximately 13,000 square meter area in the English Garden where the Dianabad wave is located is still under the jurisdiction of the Bavarian Palace, Garden, and Lake Administration. Legal matters related to the land swap for the Dianabad wave access are still pending.

Minister-President Söder sees parallels between Munich and California, stating, "Munich is a surfer's paradise, and this surfing fits well with Bavaria - live and let live." He further added that surfing in Munich is a symbol of the city's vibrant urban lifestyle.

For beginners interested in surfing in Munich, the Dianabad wave could provide a more accessible and suitable option than the Eisbach wave. However, it's always recommended to take classes or rent equipment at a local surf school to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

As more details about the land swap and the Dianabad wave become available, we will continue to bring you updates on this exciting development in Munich's urban surfing scene.

The Dianabad wave's easier conditions make it an attractive choice for beginners, fostering the growth of outdoor-living and home-and-garden activities within the city's vibrant urban lifestyle. The land swap announced by Söder and Reiter aims to enhance access to this separate surfing location, fostering a symbol of Munich's surfer's paradise lifestyle.
