Essen's Playgrounds Get a Modern Makeover with 313,000 Euro Investment
Essen's playgrounds have received a facelift, thanks to the generosity of Stiftung Spielraum Essen. The city has invested around 313,000 euros to renovate and modernise news in Katernberg, Frohnhausen, and Holsterhausen, ensuring safe and diverse play opportunities for all children.
The Bunsenstraße playground in Holsterhausen now boasts two new play equipment, while the Westpark playground in Frohnhausen has seen the addition of new play equipment and a partially renewed sand play area. Several playgrounds across the city have been updated with new equipment, providing children with exciting new ways to play.
The August-Schmidt-Straße playground in Katernberg, now reopened, offers a range of activities for children aged 6 to 13, including climbing, swinging, and role-playing opportunities. All the renovated news in Katernberg, Frohnhausen, and Holsterhausen reopened in late August 2025, much to the delight of the city's young residents.
The modernization of these news reflects the city's commitment to providing safe, attractive, and diverse play spaces for its children. With the completion of these projects, Essen's young residents can enjoy enhanced play experiences.
