Tomsk Marks International Children's Day with a Slate of Events on June 1

Tomsk, 26 May - RIA Tomsk: The city of Tomsk has lined up a host of activities for International Children's Day on June 1, including concerts, masterclasses, competitions, and gifts. The main festivities will take place at City Garden and Novosobornaya Square, as reported by RIA Tomsk.

City Garden

Traditionally, City Garden in Tomsk will serve as the main venue for the International Children's Day celebrations. The highlight of the day will be events organized by Children's Radio and DETKIDS magazine, as announced in their official Facebook page. The event will be called "Planet of Talented Kids."

"Join us from 11 a.m. for a spectacular show of talented Tomsk kids! Competitions, workshops, and a plethora of gifts await the entire family! Bring the whole family and come have fun!" reads the announcement.

The program will feature artistic performances by young stars from Tomsk and Tomsk Region, competitions, and gifts for the whole family. For visitors, there will be photo zones, quests, workshops, games, and other entertainment activities.

According to reports, visitors to the event will also have the opportunity to participate in various workshops, including painting gingerbread and creating gypsum figures.

The "Ordinary Miracle" Foundation was established in Tomsk in 2008. Every year, it conducts charity marathons to assist children with severe health issues. The charity marathon typically starts on March 1 and runs for three months, with each year's results summarized on International Children's Day. In 2024, over 60 children with disabilities received assistance as a result of the marathon.

Novosobornaya Square

A representative from the Tomsk city education department revealed that Novosobornaya Square will also host International Children's Day celebrations on June 1. The "First Movement Festival" will feature participation from the governor, mayor, and other officials.

Preliminary plans indicate that up to 1,500 people will attend the "First Movement Festival." From 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., a concert program will be held on the main stage, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Tomsk Palace of Creative Youth and Children. Additional gaming areas will be set up on the square as well.

The Tomsk Palace of Creative Youth and Children is the largest and oldest extracurricular educational institution in the region. Its history dates back to 1925 when the city's first House of Pioneers opened, subsequently occupying some of the city's most iconic buildings. In 1980, it moved to its current location at ulitsa Vereshina (Vereshin Street). More information about the Palace's history can be found [here]*(hyperlink removed due to formatting constraints).

The age limit for the events has been set at 0.

Note: Further research reveals that events are scheduled on May 31st at Moscow Oblast Office (MOO) TOS "Istok" (ул.Максима Горького,58) and MOO TOS "Sibirskaya" (ул.Sibirskaya, 92). Additionally, a festive program titled "Planet Childhood" is planned for May 31st at 1:00 p.m. at the Natural Park "Okolitsa," featuring a sports competition, dance marathon, and entertainment activities, including characters from popular Russian cartoons and a soap bubble show.

However, these events do not appear to be directly related to the International Children's Day celebrations in Tomsk on June 1.

City Garden will not only host artistic performances and competitions for the International Children's Day celebrations, but it will also provide various family-oriented activities such as painting gingerbread and creating gypsum figures, making it an ideal location for family-dynamics to enjoy a day together, participating in the home-and-garden festivities.

The "First Movement Festival" at Novosobornaya Square, on the other hand, will focus on relationship-building, with the participation of the governor, mayor, and other officials, promising a memorable day for the children and families of Tomsk.
