Expense on constructing a fresh cultural center in Schneverdingen reaches nearly € 490,000
Schneverdingen Cultural Home Construction Progress and Funding Update
The Schneverdinger Kulturverein's eagerly anticipated new cultural home is still on track to open its doors on May 3rd, as previously announced. However, the association is facing a significant challenge in securing the necessary funds to complete the project.
In an effort to keep the loan amount as low as possible, the Schneverdinger Kulturverein has been actively seeking donations from the community. Last week, they launched a donation drive via their social media channels, appealing to the residents of Schneverdingen for their support.
Despite the encouraging response, a funding gap of approximately 487,200 euros remains. To bridge this gap, the Schneverdinger Kulturverein is considering taking a loan of between 450,000 and 500,000 euros.
Talks with local banks regarding the potential loan are already underway and are nearing completion. It is expected that a decision will be made mid-April. The bank, if chosen, will be entered into a perpetual usufruct as security for the loan.
The high interest on the potential loan would put a significant strain on the Schneverdinger Kulturverein in the long term. Aware of this burden, the board has received a unanimous mandate to keep the loan amount as low as possible for the benefit of the association.
To help manage this, the board will be implementing short-term measures to reduce expenses and continue fundraising efforts. They are also considering an extraordinary repayment plan for the members of the Schneverdinger Kulturverein, should the loan be taken.
Councilor Jan-Kosta Recksiek and Mayor Meike Moog-Steffens have advised the Schneverdinger Kulturverein to launch a broad appeal once again. The association is heeding this advice and continues to seek donations to close the funding gap.
In addition to their fundraising efforts, the Schneverdinger Kulturverein also publishes a weekly newsletter, delivering a selection of local news articles to subscribers' inboxes for free. This newsletter serves as a platform to update the community on the progress of the cultural home construction and the association's fundraising efforts.
The Schneverdinger Kulturverein appreciates the community's support and encourages everyone to continue donating to help make the new cultural home a reality. The association is aware of the impact the planned loan amount would have on its successors and is committed to keeping the loan amount as low as possible.
