In the heart of Long Beach, a unique cat adoption centre named Cool Cat Collective is making a difference, not just by finding homes for felines, but by ensuring they find a life full of love and companionship.

Recently, Regan Rudman, a regular visitor to the centre, was hosting a silent reading event. Amidst the pages of books, a special bond was forming. Likins, a cat-lover despite having a cat allergy, was drawn to the kittens at the event. As she sat engrossed in her book, a particular cat named Soup Enhancements caught her eye.

Meanwhile, Likins' boyfriend, Max Mineer, was bonding with another feline soulmate, Handyman, later that evening. Today, Soup Enhancements and Handyman, along with two other cats, Soup Enhancements' arch-nemesis, Handyman's friend, Soup Enhancements and Handyman, live together in their Long Beach apartment.

The cats, now siblings in all but blood, sleep together, clean each other, and generally behave like the best of friends. Handyman, interestingly, was the only cat Soup Enhancements tolerated.

Adopters, like Likins, are more likely to choose cats they have met in person at Cool Cat Collective, rather than those they have only seen online. This personal interaction not only helps the adopters to connect with the cats but also increases the chances of a successful adoption.

Cool Cat Collective, in partnership with TippedEars, provides resources to potential adopters. Staff members offer advice on cat care, such as recommendations for scratch posts, and even offer discounts on cat supplies. For instance, Likins and Mineer received a 20% off coupon for Chewy products.

Volunteers from TippedEars have been instrumental in educating the public about the cat overpopulation crisis and TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) methods. Their efforts ensure that more stray and abandoned cats find a safe home at Cool Cat Collective.

The goal of Cool Cat Collective is to create a low-barrier space for people who are cat-curious or need a moment of cat joy. Regan Rudman, who cannot have a cat of her own due to health reasons, visits the centre every month. Despite trying for three months, Rudman had to secure a spot for the September silent reading event. Scarcely any attendee was able to successfully attract a kitten at the event, as the cats chose their company.

If anything goes wrong with the cats, Likins and Mineer can return them to Cool Cat Collective with no questions asked. This policy, along with the warm and welcoming atmosphere, makes Cool Cat Collective a trusted choice for cat adoption.

Attendees at the silent reading event often have one eye on the cats as they read, and it's unclear how far into their books they actually get. But for Likins, the moment she saw Soup Enhancements choosing her at the August silent reading party was a moment she would never forget.

From finding their feline soulmates to providing a safe and loving environment for cats, Cool Cat Collective is truly making a difference, one cat at a time.
