Experiencing the beauty of four gardens: Join the 'Open Garden Door' event in Dusseldorf
The city of Düsseldorf is inviting you to an enchanting journey through its private gardens as the Open Garden Gate 2023 event returns. This annual celebration of horticultural diversity, a collaboration between Düsseldorf, Stiftung Schloss Dyck, the city of Bonn, and the German Society for Garden Art and Landscape Culture, takes place on the 10th and 11th of May.
During these two days, gardens across the Rhineland will open their gates, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore the city's hidden green gems. More information about the individual gardens and an overview map can be found on the Open Garden Gate website.
One of the participating gardens is the Oberbilk garden located at Höseler Straße 20 in the Südpark Düsseldorf. The VHS-Biogarten in the Südpark is another highlight, showcasing a 3500 square meter herb garden, natural garden, vegetable garden, and perennial garden.
The perennial gardens, in particular, are expected to be a spectacle, blooming with a variety of colours and fragrances. Herb gardens are also popular in the event, providing insights into the art of herbal cultivation.
The event offers more than just a visual treat. It provides opportunities for idea and knowledge exchange, and gathering garden inspiration. Garden owners such as Michael Borowiak in Bilk, Klaus-Peter Heussler in Wersten, Kai Habermehl and Dr. Christiane Gerlach in Wittlaer, and the VHS-Biogarten team in the Südpark will be present to share their experiences and passion for gardening.
For specific details about the participating gardens, times, and a map of the event, we recommend checking Düsseldorf’s local event listings or contacting the city’s tourist information. This year's Open Garden Gate promises to be a delightful experience for both gardening enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. Don't miss out on this chance to explore Düsseldorf's green oases!
