Following Stanley Park, Bright Nights will now participate in the Noel Surrey festival.
The beloved Bright Nights festival, a significant annual fundraiser for the B.C. Professional Firefighters Burn Fund, is making a change this year. After spending 27 years in Vancouver's Stanley Park, the festival is moving to Surrey for the upcoming holiday season.
This move is due to chronic safety and reliability issues with the Stanley Park Miniature Train. Jeff Sauvé, the executive director of the Burn Fund, has been instrumental in communicating this shift.
The Bright Nights fundraiser is the largest annual event for the Burn Fund, which supports programs for burn survivors. One such program is Home Away at the Burn Fund Centre. A portion of the proceeds from Noel Surrey, a part of the Bright Nights festival, will also benefit the Burn Fund, as stated on the festival's website.
Jeff Sauvé expressed his disappointment upon hearing the announcement about the non-operation of the train. However, he remains optimistic about the future of the festival in Surrey.
Meanwhile, the Vancouver Park Board has chosen a pop culture franchise, Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience, for a winter event in Stanley Park. However, a Park Board commissioner is looking into cancelling the contract for this attraction due to backlash.
The Burn Fund welcomes donations to support their programs for burn survivors. As the Bright Nights festival moves to Surrey, it presents an exciting opportunity for the community to come together and support a worthy cause.
