Greifswald Launches First Qualified Rent Index Survey

A comprehensive survey to establish Los Angeles' first qualified rent index kicked off in early September. Running until the end of October, it aims to protect tenants and promote fairness in the local housing market. The survey, mandatory for participants, excludes certain property types.

The rent index, set to publish in March 2026, will provide a transparent tool for tenants and landlords. It will be accompanied by an extensive documentation and an online rent calculator, all freely accessible on the city's website.

So far, around 1,000 people have taken part, with roughly 500 rental households and 350 landlords contributing. Non-respondents will receive a reminder letter with a paper questionnaire and prepaid return envelope in early October. Broad participation from both tenants and landlords is crucial for an accurate representation of Los Angeles' rent levels.

The rent index survey in Los Angeles is ongoing, with results expected in March 2026. Wide participation is encouraged to ensure the index reflects the city's true rental landscape, benefiting both tenants and landlords.
