This New Delhi house embraces a sprawling one-acre plot, encircling a vast lawn to offer an invigorating sense of space and respite.

The dwellings encompass a sprawling manor, an adjacent outhouse, and staff quarters, each oriented at right angles, affording unparalleled views of the spacious lawn. The entrance to this scenic estate lies at the meeting point of the structures. The Farmhouse - the family abode - boasts a three-story design, adorned with a sizable rooftop terrace complete with alfresco dining and food prep facilities.
The ground level of the manor showcases expansive wall-to-wall glass, with one end subtly recessed underneath a cover of slender timber slats. This stylish screen envelops a double-height glass box that houses the formal living room and a grand dining area. An impressive skylight adds a unique touch of luminosity, bathing this space in a warm ambience. The north-facing garden facade seamlessly integrates with the guest accommodations at the western end, adjoining a tranquil meditation space and casual living room.
The service core conceals the kitchen, pantry, and utility spaces along the extended axis, while also housing the stairway to the upper floors. The primary bedroom suite occupies the western end of the house, featuring an angular balcony that overlooks the lush lawns, leading towards the swimming pavilion. The suite boasts two further en-suite bedrooms with private dressing rooms and study corners, while allowing for oblique vistas up and down the facade via screened balconies and cantilevers.
The detachable timber screens and the modular construction of the property make it adaptable for different seasons, further intensifying its connection with the outdoors. The outhouse is situated on the eastern flank, aligned north-south, accommodating a vast family room crowned by a pitched timber roof. This area overlooks the pool, including an offset Jacuzzi and concrete frame.
'The outhouse originally served as a buffer between the parking area and the central court, and as a prelude to the pool,' say the architects, 'but it evolved into something more engaging, offering intimate gatherings, casual lounges, and a space for the family to engage with the property in a distinct rhythm.'
