Illuminating the Salt Lake City Conference Venue
In a significant move towards enhancing its lighting capabilities, The Conference Center in Salt Lake City has invested in 85 Robert Juliat Dalis 864 footlights, featuring a four-color mixing system. This upgrade will bring advanced color mixing, reliability, and flexibility to support diverse lighting needs in the prestigious 21,000-seat auditorium.
The journey towards this upgrade began with ACT Entertainment, who brought Braden Howard, The Conference Center's lighting specialist III and resident lighting designer, up to date with what's new in the Dalis line. Howard, who had previously found the Dalis 862 LED asymmetrical footlights reliable after 10 years of use, was eager to explore the new offerings.
The first usage of the new fixtures will likely be the annual "Luz de las Naciones" celebration in November. However, they made their debut in last year's PBS Christmas special featuring the Tabernacle Choir, a testament to their quality and performance.
The new Dalis 864 footlights are versatile, usable for scenic lighting or in a semi-permanent position lining the edge of the stage. They also boast a safety lighting feature that performers can see, marking the stage edge boundary. This feature is particularly helpful as the Christmas set can move the footlights around, allowing them to be placed on different levels of the set and hidden due to their low profile and non-reflective finish.
ACT Entertainment is the exclusive distributor of Robert Juliat lighting in North America, and the fixtures were supplied locally by Barbizon Light of the Rockies, Utah. Ryan Hindinger, ACT Entertainment's market manager for lighting, concluded that the Robert Juliat Dalis is the champion in its category. He praised the footlights' design and engineering, which he found to be impeccable.
The new footlights' four-color mixing system allows full-color lighting capabilities to enhance performances in the auditorium. This upgrade to the color version enables more dynamic lighting applications for various events, making The Conference Center's lighting capabilities more versatile than ever before.
The cue light for performers on the Dalis 864 footlights is another notable feature. It doesn't break their eye line with the camera, a helpful feature that ensures smooth and professional performances.
The new footlights are expected to be installed in September, marking another step forward in The Conference Center's commitment to providing top-notch lighting for its diverse range of events.
