Preetz Foundation Awards Cultural and Social Support

The Margarete-Luise-Christina-Ruta- und Marie-Helena-Ruta-Stiftung, a local foundation in Preetz, Germany, has been a pillar of support for social and cultural initiatives in the town since its establishment in 1999. This year, the foundation awarded a 7,000-euro memorial prize to the Niederdeutsche Buhne Preetz and the Förderverein Stadtkirche Preetz.

The Niederdeutsche Buhne Preetz, a local theatre group, has been honoured with this award and support for the second time. The youth stage of the theatre, professionally guided by actress Christina Dobirr, is free and starts with standard German. This initiative brings children off the streets and offers acting lessons, providing a creative outlet for young minds.

The Förderverein Stadtkirche Preetz, founded in 2012, has been actively involved in the renovation of the city church. Over the years, they have collected around 85,000 euros through membership fees, donations, concert proceeds, and merchandise sales. The most significant investment of the association was the restoration of the church tower's tip, including the globe and weather vane.

The prize money will be used to significantly improve the event technology with light and sound and to highlight the organ, and to allow for the presentation of less-common music genres like a cappella or jazz in the city church. The association aims to ideologically support the evangelical parish of Preetz in revitalizing the church, with a focus on cultural events.

In addition to cultural support, the foundation also contributes to social welfare. The charitable foundation has distributed 168,000 euros for social and cultural purposes. The youth stage offers theater projects for children aged 7 to 17, providing opportunities for young people to engage in the arts and fostering a sense of community.

The 26th award ceremony for the foundation took place in early July at the House of the Diakonie in Preetz. The Förderverein Stadtkirche Preetz was present at the award ceremony for the first time. Susanne Hampel, the stage leader, thanked for the renewed support of the foundation.

However, there are still renovation projects needed in the city church, such as the renewal of the small city church's roof, the completion of the stucco surround, and the modernization of the bell system. The association's chairman, Gernot A. Weimar, stated that members provide continuous support to the parish in maintaining the church through their regular contributions.

In conclusion, the Margarete-Luise-Christina-Ruta- und Marie-Helena-Ruta-Stiftung plays a vital role in enriching the cultural and social landscape of Preetz. By supporting initiatives like the Niederdeutsche Buhne Preetz and the Förderverein Stadtkirche Preetz, the foundation contributes to the preservation of local heritage, the enhancement of community life, and the improvement of social welfare.
