The Grand Staircase at Berlin's Humboldt Forum is set to undergo construction, with work expected to begin in August 2025 and completion slated for spring 2027. The Grand Staircase, spanning 38 meters in width, will be a significant addition to the Humboldt Forum. Originally, a lido was proposed for the area, but this is no longer part of the current plan. Instead, the project will focus on enhancing the public space with the Grand Staircase and its surrounding development.
The Grand Staircase project is being overseen by the Senate Department for Urban Development. As the construction progresses, the Grand Staircase will lead down to the Spree Canal, providing a scenic route for visitors to explore the Humboldt Forum and the surrounding area.
