Charlotte

Get ready to meet your quilting queen! Charlotte is our go-to expert for all things patchwork and quilting, and her shining presence can be found Thursdays through Saturdays. Tune in to Radio 4, and you'll find Charlotte hard at work!

  1. I celebrated nearly 2 years with FG, and I can honestly say it's been an absolute blast!
  2. My mama broadened my horizons with sewing curtains and cushions long ago, and my aunts, incredible textile artists, have also served as massive inspirations.
  3. While I primarily focus on quilting, I've recently been drawn into the world of dressmaking by my fellow Team FG members.
  4. Oh, the choices! I adore the linen cotton mixes and the traditional quilting weight Japanese Sevenberry fabrics. Their patchwork potential is mind-blowing!
  5. The sheer talent, creativity, and love of fabric that's shared by every single member of the FG team is what makes working here so extraordinary.

Laura

Laura swoops in to cover holidays and our bustling times of the year, so seize the chance to spend a little quality time with her!

  1. I joined FG for approximately a year now.
  2. Seems like I was born with a sewing needle in my hand: my 5-year-old self had my first lesson from Grandma on her vintage black and gold Singer machine.
  3. I love whipping up tote bags, patchwork quilts, and trying my hand at more complex garment making projects at home.
  4. I've got a soft spot for Rose & Hubble floral poplins for patchwork, plus the printed viscose is an absolute dream for summer dresses!
  5. Interacting with our lovely customers is the part I cherish most about working at FG. It's always a joy to chat sewing conundrums and find solutions together! My coworkers are pretty awesome too.

Claire

Our Fabrics Galore OG, Claire works on Mondays and Tuesdays and boasts an impressive breadth of expertise in all things soft furnishing. She's basically a textile oracle!

  1. I've been serving up fabrics since 1993...that's right, I'm a 90s kid, baby!
  2. Sewing gave me some extra pocket money as a youngster: I made soft toys and began my journey with textiles at the tender age of 10.
  3. When I'm not at the shop, I play the role of gift crafter, whipping up homemade treats for friends and tackling soft furnishing projects.
  4. The Orla Kiely fabrics never disappoint, as they always sew up like a dream.
  5. Sharing sewing tips and ideas is what makes my heart flutter, whether with colleagues or customers.

Issy

Issy, our resident sewing whiz, started off working Saturdays but is now making waves on our TikTok account and stepping in whenever the shop is in need or when she's back from uni.

  1. I've been a proud member of the Fabrics Galore team for a cool 6 years.
  2. My Mum's friend, a seamstress and costume designer, kicked off my passion for sewing when she ran workshops in primary school.
  3. I'm all about DIY fashion: I make clothes for myself and occasionally whip up little decorative items for my humble abode.
  4. I'm a massive fan of our denims, especially the patchwork effect denim, which feels like a delightfully fun twist on the classic fabric.
  5. I can't get enough of discovering the new fabrics that come our way - that always gets me giddy!

Annabelle

Annabelle is our full-time crew member and is responsible for running the shop and website.

  1. I've been with Fabrics Galore since 2014 (wow, time flies!).
  2. Mum has always sewn, even owning her own fabric company, so there was no escaping the sewing bug for me.
  3. Making handmade gifts for my friends and their children fills my free time nicely, and I've recently dived headfirst into making sweatshirts and sewing my own clothes.
  4. The boiled wool tugs at my heartstrings, and I'm craving making a red and pink gingham double gauze dress - as soon as I finish my friends' birthday presents, of course!
  5. What do I cherish most about working at Fabrics Galore? I'll pause for dramatic effect: Paul buys me breakfast sometimes? Cute, right?

Alison

Our fresh face on the team, Alison started by covering holidays and is now on board as a permanent member who's visible Wednesdays, Thursdays, and select Saturdays. And did we mention she's our pattern pro? If you need assistance, Alison's got you covered.

  1. I've been working with Fabrics Galore for the past 8 months.
  2. Auntie Eva sparked my interest in sewing when I was young.
  3. I happily indulge in dressmaking at home, and trousers are my current obsession.
  4. At the moment, I'm smitten with either the Sevenberry cottons or denim.
  5. The camaraderie and sewing-focused chat between us and our customers is what makes being a part of Fabrics Galore truly special.

Michael

Michael, a seasoned member of the crew, is a folding master, handling pretty much every fabric with grace and ease.

  1. I've been a part of the Fabrics Galore squad for over a decade.
  2. My Grandma, a talented seamstress, served as my inspiration, passing down her love for sewing.
  3. I'm always up for a challenge: I'll try my hand at virtually anything in the sewing world!
  4. I sometime find myself waxing poetic about our calico, as it's a dream to work with and I use it weekly.
  5. The sense of family we share at Fabrics Galore is what makes my time here truly fulfilling.

Becky

Becky is new to Team FG but whizzes through cutting orders on Saturdays with superhuman speed!

  1. I've been a part of the Fabrics Galore team for 7 months now.
  2. My grandmother, who was an incredible seamstress, ignited my love for sewing during my childhood. I spent countless hours watching her mend and alter clothing, and absorbed an incredible amount of knowledge from her along the way.
  3. I love taking on sewing challenges, particularly designing and transferring prints onto fabric for fashion and designing my own clothes at home.
  4. Wool is my hands-down, all-time favourite fabric from FG. It's durable, comfortable, easy to work with, sustainable, renewable, biodegradable, and requires less chemical processing. Plus, Organdy, a natural material, is fantastic for fabric manipulation. It holds its structure well and is perfect for dyeing.
  5. The warm and welcoming atmosphere of Fabrics Galore is truly inspiring. I've learned a great deal about various materials, their uses, and the creations of my colleagues and customers. It's an environment that keeps me thrilled to come to work!

Paul

Paul is our shop dad, the man who opened the doors back in 1992.

  1. Since the opening day in 1992.
  2. While I may not know the art of sewing myself, I've always been captivated by fabrics. I spent my school holidays working for my father at the shop, a sanctuary of stunning colors and textures, and my love for fabrics continues to grow.
  3. I can't start the day without a strong, milky cup of Yorkshire Gold!
  4. Alexander Henry Fabrics prints catch my eye and tug my heartstrings every time I glance their way.
  5. I feel like I'm continuously learning something new from our customers, colleagues, and suppliers. Every day is a fresh opportunity to expand my knowledge base in the world of fabrics and textiles.

Charlotte, our reliable quilting expert at Fabrics Galore, cherishes crafting homemade gifts and trying her hand at dressmaking. Her favorite fabrics to work with are the linen cotton mixes and traditional quilting weight Japanese Sevenberry fabrics.
