Kids' Character Drawing Workshop!

In an exciting turn of events, renowned animator and illustrator MinoMiyabi will be conducting workshops for children aged 6 to 15, as part of the 'This is MANGA - the Art of NAOKI URASAWA' exhibition. The event will take place at the Level 2 Gallery of our website, from January 23 to March 28.

MinoMiyabi, originally from Japan, is known for his balance of aesthetics and character communication in his work. He is a regular speaker at annual workshops on character design and manga drawing at Anime EXPO (Los Angeles) and Comic-Con International (San Diego). Notably, he has freelanced for notable clients such as Walt Disney Imagineering and Shinca Entertainment.

The workshops will begin with teaching kids to create a smiley face and then progress to creating a range of emotional expressions by adding simple lines. The workshop is themed around the Naoki Urasawa exhibition, featuring characters like Billy Bat, Yawara-chan, and Jigoro.

Naoki Urasawa, an internationally acclaimed Japanese artist, will also be a central figure in the exhibition. Seven of his major works will be highlighted, including YAWARA!, MONSTER, 20th Century Boys, PLUTO, BILLY BAT, MASTER KEATON ReMASTER, and MUJIRUSHI. The exhibition will introduce Urasawa's thought process and drawing skill through an extraordinary presentation of more than 400 original drawings and storyboards.

It's important to note that minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult during the workshops. A $5 fee includes drawing material for the workshops.

For those interested, MinoMiyabi will guide the workshop, serving as the instructor. He has previously worked as an artist/animator at SPRITE Animation Studios, contributing to "Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures" for Disney XD.

While specific search results for Naoki Urasawa exhibition workshops for kids are scarce, it's worth checking with local museums, cultural centers, or manga exhibitions that sometimes host related activities.
