The historic Christmas market atop Königstein Fortress has continued to draw crowd interest in the Saxon Switzerland region, with over 42,000 visitors already visiting during the initial three weekends of Advent. The new "After Work Advent" event, introduced by the fortress to compensate for the missing fourth Sunday, has significantly boosted popularity. This Friday, from 2 PM to 7 PM, is the final chance to experience the "After Work Advent" event before its closure. On Saturday, from 11 AM to 7 PM, the traditional market will open for the last time before it metamorphoses into a serene shopping destination on the Table Mountain post-holidays.
André Thieme, Managing Director of Königstein Fortress, encourages relaxation at the end of the year, inviting visitors to indulge in the festive cuisine, view landscape films, or delve into the captivating history of the exhibitions at the fortress. From December 27 to December 30, the fortress will reopen the food stalls for the "Afterglow" event, with the nearly ten-hectare area remaining adorned for the holidays. Some attractions such as the "Star Dome" and the unique Schwibbogen in the fairytale forest will still be visible until the end of the year. The fortress will be open daily from 11 AM to 5 PM during the "Afterglow" event, with the museum complex already open daily from 9 AM. Christmas Day is traditionally the only closing day for the fortress; on Christmas Day, it will open as usual, and on New Year's Eve, it will remain open until 3:30 PM.
