Triplets Born to Shiva at the Sochi Leopard Rehab Center 🐾
Kittens Born at Sochi's Leopard Rehabilitation Center
Proud parents, Shiva and Philou, welcomed three adorable Caucasian leopard cubs at the Sochi Center for the Rehabilitation of the Caucasian Leopard.
This new family of three is the result of the third litter for these leopards. The cubs arrived peacefully at 3 a.m., with another joining the family 40 minutes later. Awaiting a gender reveal in about a month and a half, these tiny leopards are already thriving with their attentive mother constantly licking them and keeping them warm.
According to the center, initially, mothers like Shiva are extremely protective of their newborns and seldom leave their den, not even for a sip of water.
Shiva and Philou have been residents of Sochi for five years, transferred from Sweden.
In the meantime, Kazbek, a one-year-old leopard cub, is all set to join the survival school in Sochi, moving one step closer to rejoining the wild.

Insight:
The rehabilitation process for endangered Caucasian leopard cubs at the Sochi Center involves crucial steps such as medical care, minimizing human contact, hunting and survival training, behavioral monitoring, and preparation for release into protected wild areas. This process mimics a natural habitat and is designed to maintain wild instincts that will ensure their survival in the wild after rehabilitation. The center collaborates with conservationists and wildlife biologists to maximize success in reintroducing these leopards to their natural range, helping to ensure the species' long-term survival.
The new lifestyle of Shiva and Philou, the Caucasian leopard parents, includes tending to their home-and-garden of three cubs. In this home, pets are not dogs or cats, but the adorable cubs they've welcomed and continue to nurture.
