Latest updates from Borgpark-Builder: Events unfolding at Laga construction site...
**"Yo, here's the scoop on the build-out happening at the Neuss Citizens' Park," starts Annette Nothnagel, CEO of Laga GmbH, as she casts a wary eye on the entrance gate. Seems like everyone's peppering the place with questions, jumped-up backdoors and all, which is why Annette's shouting, "It's a damn construction zone, mate! Stay out!"
Now, not everyone's heeding the call – some folks get a guided walkthrough of the site. "Piles of dirt here, concrete paths later," Mayor Reiner Breuer's got the lowdown. They're recycling material for the asphalt, too. Now that's eco-friendly. And Henrik D probably knows that, since he's building this sweet little kiosk from repurposed wreckage, closer to the skate area.
Speaking of the skate park, it ain't going nowhere, but word on the street is a new residential neighborhood, Hammfeld, with 1,500 units,'s popping up nearby. Citizens can stroll straight to the park from there via a fresh bike and footpath over Stresemannallee – all good for embracing nature, recreation, and more.
The "Green Heart - Neuss Citizens' Park" bunch ensures these options find their feet. The crew's all about encouraging citizen participation – they've got a "Heart Tree" deal going on at www.herzensbaum-neuss.de. It's a way to sponsor trees for the park, for more green to grow. So far, around 140 "Heart Trees" have been sponshored, with Nature Grove and Culture Grove tops in popularity. The Guardians' Meadow's catching up since, and here's an interesting tidbit: a lady in her late 30s secured a tree sponsorship, ensuring it's accessible even on her city-bound mobility scooter!
Now, as for the pond, it used to be two wee ponds, but they're long gone. A massive 6,000 square meters pond is rising in its place. Why, you ask? Well, Jan Sommer, head honcho over at Neuss's Landscape Show 2026, can't hide the excitement. Soon, we'll have this rad terrace jutting out into the pond, and baby, it's gonna enhance the park's microclimate and attract folks like never before. But where'd the fish from the old ponds end up? No worries! They've been moved along with around 300 fish, 30 big ones included.
Lastly, Oliver Haddik, chief of Haddick Construction, can't help but brag about his hi-tech construction site. With GPS-guided excavators and a flying data drone (nearly) calling all the shots, it's state-of-the-art, but the excavator driver's still got control behind the wheel. Now what they're focusing on is deep construction measures. No skyscrapers are being built, though there's seven mil euros allocated to make the wet hall and the tribune building sustainable and multifunctional – think gastronomy and more!
So, there ya have it – the juicy scoop on what's brewing over at Neuss Citizens' Park! Stay tuned, and keep an eye on that microclimate!"
