LuLu Group Launches Ambitious Solar Energy Initiative in UAE
LuLu Group, a prominent UAE retailer, has initiated an ambitious solar energy initiative. The project, covering five facilities in Dubai, aims to substantially reduce the company's carbon footprint. Enviromena Power Systems and Positive Zero are collaborating with LuLu Group to make this initiative a reality.
LuLu Group's sustainability journey began in 2020, partnering with Enviromena Power Systems for servicing and maintenance of its solar systems. Positive Zero is providing a comprehensive turnkey service, handling the build, installation, and maintenance of all the solar rooftops. The solar plants are expected to generate over 37 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually, preventing the release of over 25,000 metric tons of carbon emissions.
The project involves installing solar plants on the rooftops of LuLu Hypermarkets in Al Warqa, Rashidiya, Dubai Investments Park (DIP), LuLu Central Logistics hub in DIP, and the Regional Office in Al Qusais. Once fully operational, LuLu's solar installations will be one of the most ambitious renewable energy deployments in the UAE retail sector.
LuLu Group's Director of Global Operations, Salim M.A, stated that sustainability is a core value for the company, aligning with the UAE's national goals for a greener future. David Auriau, CEO of Positive Zero, praised LuLu Group's commitment to sustainability and the potential for clean energy in the retail sector. This initiative sets a new benchmark for how retailers can support the UAE's clean energy transition.
