New Luxury Timepiece Combines Traditional Artistry and Horological Innovation

The Credor Goldfeather Tourbillon Limited Edition GBCF999, a highly sought-after timepiece, is set to be released in October 2025. This exclusive watch, limited to just 10 pieces worldwide, is a testament to Credor's mastery in blending traditional Japanese art with cutting-edge horology.

The watch boasts a manual-winding Caliber 6850 movement, an evolution of a previous model, with a 60-hour power reserve—extended by a larger mainspring and barrel. The tourbillon escapement enhances timekeeping accuracy and resistance to positional errors, with the watch offering improved accuracy of ±15 to -10 seconds per day.

The Credor Goldfeather Tourbillon Limited Edition GBCF999 showcases a unique blend of traditional Japanese urushi lacquer artistry and advanced horological innovation. The watch dial integrates urushi lacquer with raden (mother-of-pearl inlay), kirikane (gold leaf decoration), and maki-e (gold powder sprinkling), depicting birds soaring—a motif symbolic of elegance and craftsmanship. The movement itself is hand-engraved with feather patterns inspired by bird wings, extending the artistic theme into the mechanics.

The watch features a platinum 950 case with a slim, wearable size of 38.6mm diameter and 8.6mm thickness. The back of the case showcases hand-engraved feather patterns and a greenish-blue feather made from yakougai (green turban snail shell). Gold flecks surround the aperture of the tourbillon bridge to create a sun-like effect.

The Credor Goldfeather Tourbillon Limited Edition GBCF999 is equipped with high-quality finishing elements such as a crocodile leather strap featuring a partially platinum clasp with push-button release, dual-curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, magnetic resistance, and water resistance to 3 bar (30 meters).

The watch is priced at approximately €190,000 (~$223,165), making it a rare collector’s piece. Each piece of mother-of-pearl used in the watch varies in thickness and colour, requiring careful layering and shaving down of surfaces. The Caliber 6850 movement in the watch is an evolution of Credor's 2016-introduced Caliber 6830.

Master watchmaker Katsuo Saito, who received Japan's Medal with Yellow Ribbon in 2023, hand-assembles each Caliber 6850 movement with precision to within one-hundredth of a millimeter. His craftsmanship is evident in the mirror-like finish of all surfaces of the platinum 950 case.

The Credor Goldfeather Tourbillon Limited Edition GBCF999 is an example of elegant dress watchmaking, with its slim 8.6mm profile despite housing a tourbillon movement. The tourbillon bridge is shaped like a bird in flight with outstretched wings, adding to its aesthetic appeal. This new watch from Seiko-owned Credor is a significant addition to the luxury watch market.
