Princess Kate and Melania Trump Join Forces for Outdoor Crafting Event with Young Scouts

In a delightful change of pace, Catherine, Princess of Wales, and Melania Trump, the First Lady of the United States, recently came together for an outdoor crafting event with young scouts on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

The day began with a gathering around a brightly colored nylon parachute, where the children and their companions laughed as the scouts shook it. The guests of honor, Kate and Melania, presented the "Go Wild!" scouting badges to the young participants.

Kate, who is joint president of the Scout Association since 2020, wore a forest green and earthy brown ensemble, including a skirt by American brand Ralph Lauren and a scarf from a British mill she'd toured last week. Melania, on the other hand, changed her attire, wearing flats with a pair of fitted khakis and a tan military jacket.

During the event, Trump stayed in a red chair at a small table while interacting with the children, asking them questions and helping them affix stickers to their projects. She also participated in creating prints with leaves foraged from Windsor Castle's grounds.

Trump showed a keen interest in the children's creations, and one volunteer commented that the children were quite taken with Melania. Another volunteer mentioned that the children must love Melania, to which one child responded, "We already have the badge."

In response, each child received a bottle of White House honey as a gift from Melania. Kate, too, engaged with the children, asking questions and showing interest in their artwork. One volunteer noted that the children loved Melania's engagement.

The event marked a more casual venture for the two private spouses after a lavish state banquet. It's worth noting that since her return to the public eye after cancer treatment, Kate's appearances have focused on early childhood support, education, children's mental health, and the importance of spending time outdoors.

Catherine, Princess of Wales, is also associated as president with the Women's Institute, the largest women's organization in Great Britain, which also had a long connection to Queen Elizabeth II. Dwayne Fields, chief scout and television personality, accompanied the princess and first lady during the event.

Buckingham Palace stated that the children ate sandwiches containing honey made by Kate from the Wales family's hives at Anmer Hall. The scouts, in turn, presented the first lady and the princess with their own badges, and Fields later gifted Trump his scouting scarf.

This collaborative event between the princess and the first lady is a testament to their shared commitment to supporting children and the outdoors. It was indeed a memorable day for the young scouts, who will likely cherish the memories of this unique encounter for years to come.
