Natural Park Ria Formosa Community Event Day
The Institute for Nature and Forest Conservation (ICNF) is hosting an open day at the Marim Environmental Education Center in Olhão, inviting visitors to engage in a variety of nature conservation-themed activities.
Participants can expect a learning experience filled with intervention walks, practical workshops, and boat trips along the Ria Formosa, guided by the University of Algarve. Nautical activities and recreational moments suitable for all ages have also been planned, according to the ICNF.
As the manager of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, a coastal wetland located in Faro's district, the ICNF emphasizes that this event offers opportunities to increase environmental awareness and foster direct contact with nature. All activities are free, though some have limited spaces available.
This open day serves to celebrate the 47th anniversary of the Algarve protected wetland, reiterating the park's role as an educational, research, and sustainable leisure space, as stated by the ICNF.
Before attending, participants are advised to dress appropriately, with comfortable shoes and clothing such as trousers instead of shorts, to protect their legs from vegetation. Additionally, sun hats, sunscreen, water, and snacks are recommended. The ICNF advises attendees to prepare themselves well for the activities.
- The University of Algarve, guiding nautical activities during the open day, will also offer practical workshops centered around environmental-science and sustainable-living at the Marim Environmental Education Center.
- As part of the open day celebrations, home-and-garden enthusiasts can explore the impact of sustainable-living on one's lifestyle through various activities designed to raise awareness about the Algarve's protected wetland and its importance.
- Following the event, participants are encouraged to maintain their newly adopted sustainable practices at home, fostering a lifestyle that respects the environment and promotes the conservation of the Algarve's unique natural spaces.
