In a serene rural setting, Kofering played host to a memorable day for the guests of Johannes Hospice. The Johanniter transport service transported the residents to Lydia's Donkey Meadow, a unique facility offering animal-assisted therapy and donkey trekking.

The day's activities began with a brief introduction to the farm and its inhabitants. Two friendly donkeys, Vitus and Lora, were the stars of the show. The donkeys, alongside their caring handlers, led the guests through a series of interactive sessions. These included grooming, feeding, and guided treks on gentle trails.

The program, designed specifically for hospice guests, aimed to provide emotional well-being, physical activity, sensory stimulation, and a connection to nature. The gentle trekking offered light exercise, improving circulation and mobility within guests' limits. Touching and caring for the animals stimulated the senses, aiding cognitive engagement. Being outdoors in the peaceful meadow setting enhanced relaxation and mindfulness.

The afternoon's activities culminated in a lovingly designed performance by Lydia Wein, who presented the show free of charge for the hospice guests. The show included small tricks, bowing to the audience, spreading out a blanket, fetching pillows, and picking up hats by Vitus and Lora, the donkeys. This entertaining spectacle added to the overall enjoyment and therapeutic benefits of the trip.

The moment of sitting next to the donkeys on a chair is likely to remain in everyone's special memories. The visit provided a break from everyday life for the hospice residents and offered even more valuable moments for the guests. The outing concluded with warm thanks from Kristina Froehler, Pflegedienstleitung of the Johannes Hospice, to Lydia Wein for her generous donation.
