Universal Epic Universe Opens in Orlando: A Major Expansion to Universal Orlando Resort

Orlando, Florida, welcomed a new addition to its thriving amusement park scene on May 22, 2025. The Universal Epic Universe, the fourth park at Universal Orlando Resort and the first significant theme park to open in Florida in over two decades, officially launched.

Located southwest of downtown Orlando, the park represents a significant expansion of Universal Orlando's offerings, adding five highly immersive themed lands to its existing attractions. The estimated $7.7 billion investment by NBCUniversal's parent company, Comcast, reflects a concerted effort to heighten competition with Walt Disney World.

The new park features a number of themed areas, including Celestial Park, the entryway to the various themed realms within the park, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, Dark Universe, and dedicated lands for Harry Potter and Super Mario, along with additional epic story worlds. The park aims to deliver unprecedented levels of immersion and innovation, with over 50 unique experiences, from rides and dining to shopping and interactive elements.

Starting in 2026, Epic Universe will be included in Universal Orlando's park-to-park tickets, granting guests the freedom to hop between Epic Universe and the existing Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure within the same day. Base tickets, offering one park per day access, will also be available, with 3-day base tickets starting at approximately $456.88, while park-to-park tickets for three days begin at around $520.79.

While specific details about the King Kong attraction were not available, Universal Epic Universe is expected to feature a major King Kong-themed attraction. This ride is slated to be a centerpiece of the park's immersive storytelling and themed lands and will likely be housed within the Jurassic World area, a known Universal franchise. The King Kong attraction will offer a cutting-edge, immersive ride experience, blending storytelling, advanced technology, and visually stunning elements to bring the iconic giant ape to life in a new way.

In conclusion, the Universal Epic Universe is an expansive theme park that offers an engaging, story-driven experience in Orlando. With its focus on major franchises such as Harry Potter, Super Mario, How to Train Your Dragon, and a flagship King Kong attraction, the park sets new standards in theme park entertainment and competes directly with Disney's attractions in the region.

I'm overwhelmed by the upcoming experiences at Universal Epic Universe, particularly the home-and-garden of the various themed lands and the outdoor-living opportunities it promises. Despite the excitement, I'm not going to be able to do everything in one visit, given the numerous unique experiences it offers.
