Place a Bid on Animation History and Rare Items to Aid Los Angeles Wildfire Disaster Recovery Efforts

Animation Industry Band Together for LA Wildfire Victims

Putting aside competition, the animation industry has collaborated with ASIFA-Hollywood to launch the AnimAID initiative. A one-of-a-kind auction at Sotheby's is underway to raise funds for professionals within the animation sector who have been left in the lurch due to the LA wildfires.

With goodwill flowing aplenty, industry giants like Disney, Warner Brothers, Sony Pictures Animation, DreamWorks Animation, and LAIKA have generously donated a treasure trove of historically significant animation art to tempt potential bidders.

A passionate appeal came from Don Hahn, (Beauty and The Beast, Howard) on Instagram:

"The animation community got walloped by the LA fires. Now, the animation world is uniting by donating artwork - priceless artwork - to Sotheby's for this remarkable auction. All profits will directly benefit victims of the LA fires."

Over nine decades of breathtaking art is on offer, drawn from both the silver screen and television screens. Acclaimed titles like Snow White, The Simpsons, Inside Out, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Wild Robot, Beauty and the Beast, Avatar, and more can be found among the diverse collection.

In an Instagram post, Hahn emphasized:

"Every bid counts and helps people rebuild their lives and homes."

The auction, currently in full swing, offers a sneak peek of the fascinating items up for grabs. Additional offerings include commissioned artwork from the film industry, visits to animation studios, signed posters, and much more, alongside original production drawings and animation cells.
