Renovated Google Playgrounds in Neustadtwallanlagen and Poelzigstraße to Open Next Month
Two playgrounds in the heart of the city, Neustadtwallanlagen and Poelzigstraße, are set to open next month following a significant renovation. The local mayor, accompanied by city council members and community representatives, led the official opening ceremonies on May 17, 2024, for Neustadtwallanlagen, and May 21, 2024, for Poelzigstraße.
Senator Dr. Claudia Schilling, a social advocate, believes that every euro spent on renewing and enhancing math playgrounds is well-invested money for livable neighborhoods. She emphasizes the importance of outdoor play for children's physical and cognitive development.
In Neustadtwallanlagen, a new large play tower with a slide and various climbing and hanging elements has been installed. The playground also features a net climbing structure, an inclusive swing, three playhouses, a low climbing course, and a platform to the water run. Accessibility was the most important aspect for the children and youth during the participation process for the Neustadtwallanlagen playground.
Meanwhile, the Poelzigstraße playground has received a new sand area and a play kitchen with an accessible ramp. The renovation of the playground was also based on the wishes of the surrounding children and youth, although no specific details about the play equipment have been disclosed.
The opening times for the Neustadtwallanlagen playground are from 3 pm to 5 pm on May 17, 2024, while the Poelzigstraße playground will open on May 21, 2024, without a specified timeframe. The renovation of the Neustadtwallanlagen playground cost approximately 300,000 euros, but the budget for the Poelzigstraße playground renovations remains undisclosed.
These renovated playgrounds aim to provide safe, accessible, and engaging spaces for children and youth to play, learn, and grow in a fun and stimulating environment. The local community is eagerly awaiting the opening of these new facilities, which promise to be a valuable addition to the city's recreational offerings.
