**FIA Announces Restructuring of Sustainability and Diversity & Inclusion Functions**

The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the governing body for world motor sport and the federation for mobility organizations globally, has announced significant structural changes to its Sustainability and Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) functions. The changes, part of a broader organizational streamlining effort, aim to enhance the effectiveness and impact of these critical areas.

Previously combined under a single director, the Sustainability and Diversity & Inclusion functions have been separated into distinct divisions to clarify focus and improve operational effectiveness. The FIA's Sustainability team will now report to Willem Groenewald, Secretary General for Mobility, positioning the Sustainability function closer to the FIA's Member Clubs and key initiatives such as sustainable fuels, smart cities, and mobility research. On the other hand, the Diversity & Inclusion team will report to Alessandra Malhamé, FIA's Senior Human Resources Director, for more integrated HR management of diversity efforts.

Sara Mariani, who has been serving as the FIA's Sustainability, Diversity and Inclusion director for about 18 months, will leave the FIA on 20 June 2025. The FIA is immensely grateful to Mariani for her hard work and leadership since 2023.

Alberto Villareal, FIA General Manager, stated that the changes were made after careful consideration to strengthen capabilities in these critical areas, enable a more agile and effective operation, and better connect with Member Clubs to drive sustainable practices and diversity in sport. The restructuring also aligns with the FIA’s goals of streamlining internal operations, improving systems and processes, and maximizing value delivery to stakeholders.

The FIA's platform has an important role in driving sustainable practices across motor sport and mobility and providing Member Clubs with tools to effect change on the ground. The changes are designed to strategically align the Sustainability team's operations with other areas of the FIA. The FIA is committed to driving innovation, championing safety, sustainability, and equality across motor sport and mobility.

The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) is a non-profit organization with offices in Paris, London, and Geneva. It brings together 245 Member Organisations across five continents, representing millions of road users, motor sport professionals, and volunteers. The structural changes will be effective from 23 June 2025 and are part of the FIA's wider internal structural review and transformation.
