From ancient civilizations to modern times, they have represented spirituality, guidance, hope, unity, and cosmic order. In various societies, stars were linked to celestial deities, cosmic dualities, and dynastic power. For instance, the star and crescent symbol, used notably by the Ottoman Empire, likely represented a combination of sun and moon deities, embodying day and night, or divine rulership.
In spiritual and agricultural contexts, stars like the Pleiades were crucial. In Chinese tradition, the Pleiades helped mark seasons for planting and harvesting, integrating stars into both practical life and spiritual beliefs. Among Native American tribes like the Cherokees and Dakotas, the Pleiades symbolize ancestral souls, spiritual guides, and purity, with myths portraying the stars as transformed beings offering protection and hope.
