Social contribution in Bremen: Trading unique items for charitable objectives
Thousands of vinyl records, including rare gems and treasures, were donated last year for a charitable cause, contributing to an overwhelming response to the appeal. The records, which came from private collections and sets across various regions, including Scheeßel, Bremen, and Hamburg, will be sold at a charity record fair in May 2025.
Vinyl sales surpassed CD sales for the first time in 2020, demonstrating the momentum vinyl records have regained despite the rise of streaming platforms. The non-profit network "Record Fair in Scheeßel" is organizing a large charity record fair under the motto "Records for a good cause," inviting vinyl enthusiasts to browse through approximately 11,000 records across various genres on May 23, 2025.
The charity fair organizers have confirmed that proceeds from the sales will be donated to children and youth promotion. Local organizations such as the Lions, LEAs, and Rotarians will benefit from the funds allocated towards educational work for children and young people.
Last year, the initial donation appeal initiated by the network attracted not only regionally but also nationally, with donations received from Bremen and Hamburg. A former ballet dancer, among others, donated entire classical and jazz collections, offering over 2,000 records for classical music enthusiasts.
Co-organizer Reinhard "Luffy" Lüdemann expressed his excitement, stating that there are real treasures in the record villa, some worth three-digit amounts. This includes legendary albums such as the Beatles' white, red, and blue LPs and a vast selection of records from German and international rock and pop stars, as well as Schlager, jazz, and classical music fans.
Vinyl aficionados can expect to find valuable items and seek expert advice during the charity fair's opening hours, which will be covered by organizers like DJ and musician Bernd "Bobby" Meyer and his infotainment series "Talking bout (...)" team.
Fans from Bremen and Hamburg are anticipated to join the event, which will take place at the large hall of the Holst car dealership in Scheeßel from May 23 to May 31, 2025. The record fair will be closed on Ascension Day. Admission is free, and interested individuals are welcome to attend.
