🎉 Explore Copenhagen's Latest Parking Changes! 🎉

Get ready, car owners! Here's the scoop on Copenhagen's upcoming parking modifications, taking effect from April 1st, 2023.

Newsflash

In a move to encourage public transportation and cycling usage in the city, Copenhagen is introducing paid parking on Sundays and revising parking rates across the city, barring resident permit holders.

Finer Details

Say goodbye to those free Sundays as only the initial hour will remain gratis. Prices in the "green" zone will surge from 25 kroner to 44 kroner per hour, while the expensive zones covering central/congested areas, typically the red zone, will follow suit at 44 kroner per hour. The blue zone will cost 26 kroner, and the yellow zone 16 kroner per hour. An hourly fee of 17 kroner will apply in all zones from 6pm to 11pm, and 6 kroner from 11pm-8am.

You can access a map of the parking zones and hourly rates on the Copenhagen Municipality website.

What's Line Barfod Got to Say?

Elected official Line Barfod, head of the city council's Public Works administration (teknik- og miljøforvaltning), believes these changes will motivate visitors to embrace greener travel options.

"Taking up valuable space, cars are best utilized by those who truly require them," she stated in a press release. "Paid parking could also help curb air pollution."

The Lowdown

It's approximate that around 72,000 public parking spaces in Copenhagen's paid parking zones will be impacted by these changes.

All parking, even for less than an hour on Sundays, will still require registration.

Remember, parking meters and apps are typically required for parking in Copenhagen and Denmark.
