The Blue Light collective is set to appear at the Berghausen fireworks spectacle
The small town of Berghausen is buzzing with excitement as its annual Fire Department Festival gets underway. This event, known as one of the "top three" in town, traditionally attracts a large crowd, and this year is no exception.
Deputy Department Commander Michael Kuglstatter stated that the festival is well-attended and consistently so, despite changeable weather. Over three days, 90 volunteers help ensure the festival runs smoothly.
Food and drinks are a major draw at the festival. Marc, a volunteer, estimates that around 90 grilled chickens have been sold by Sunday afternoon. If you're looking for a cold drink and some hearty food, you'll find plenty of options at the festival. All chicken dishes are homemade, and in addition to beer, the Pils wagon offers cocktails and whiskey.
Entertainment is plentiful at the festival. Guests are relaxed, and regular visits are made by the 'blue light family'. On Sunday, a play street with various skill games will be held, making it a fun day for both adults and children. The youth department of the Berghausen Fire Department is actively involved in the festival and sells waffles.
The festival's traditional opening took place on Saturday afternoon with the tapping of the keg. Paramedics stopped by after their shift on Saturday evening to grab food at the festival, according to Kuglstatter. The festival will conclude on Monday with a craftsmen's dinner featuring Maultaschen in broth.
The organizers of the festival are satisfied with the attendance this year. The firefighters have been busy with setup and preparations for the festival for three weeks. The youth department of the Berghausen Fire Department has created several funny Reels on Instagram to promote the festival. At the coffee and cake stand, the older firefighters will present a video show with old photos.
The Berghausen Fire Department Festival is a true community event, with proceeds going back into youth work and camaraderie activities. It's a great opportunity to support the local fire department while enjoying a fun-filled weekend.
For those interested in learning more about the festival's schedule, popular food, or volunteer participation details, it's recommended to check the official Berghausen municipal website, the local fire department’s social media, or community event calendars closer to the event date.
Other attractions at the festival include a wide variety of food-and-drink options, such as homemade chicken dishes and a selection of beverages including beer, cocktails, and whiskey. As for other lifestyle aspects, visitors can explore the home-and-garden section of the event, where you might find booths showcasing local crafts, plants, and gardens.
