Town hall Christmas decoration: town hall tree setup
In the heart of Bavaria, the picturesque town of Ingolstadt is preparing for the upcoming festive season. The Garden Department of the town has announced its search for a large coniferous tree to grace the Town Hall Square during Advent and Christmas.
The ideal tree should boast a pleasing appearance, with a straight trunk, evenly spaced branches, and uniform growth to all sides, without bare spots and in a lush green. Trees such as Douglas firs, firs, or pines, with a minimum height of 10 to 15 meters, are being considered.
Three potential options for public spaces have been identified: the Eastern White Pine, the Arborvitae (Thuja), and the Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides).
The Eastern White Pine, a towering evergreen, is known for its rapid growth rate and ability to provide excellent shade. It would make an ideal focal point in large public spaces like the Town Hall Square.
The Arborvitae, available in various sizes, performs well in fertile, moist, well-drained soils and requires full sun to partial shade. It is versatile and can be used to create hedges or standalone specimens.
While not strictly coniferous, the Dawn Redwood is often grouped with conifers due to its coniferous appearance and traits. The Ogon Dawn Redwood, in particular, is noted for its vibrant foliage and could serve as a stunning focal point in the square.
The chosen tree will be cut, transported by low loader, and installed by a heavy-duty crane on the town hall square. It will be located near a road at an easily accessible spot in the garden, inviting all citizens to enjoy the festive atmosphere it will create.
Citizens who have a suitable tree or can facilitate one are asked to contact the municipal garden department at phone number 0841/305-1931 or via email at [email protected]. The purpose of the tree is to enhance the festive atmosphere during the holiday season, and it is hoped that the community will come together to find the perfect tree for this special occasion.
