Unique eco-flashmob eschewing plastic takes place in Astana
In the heart of Bayqongyr, the capital district, an ecological flash mob named "1 Day Without Plastic - A Step Towards Clean Bayqongyr!" was held on July 3, coinciding with World Refuse Single-Use Plastic Day. The event was a significant contribution towards a cleaner Bayqongyr and was organized by the city's akimat.
The main goal of the event was to raise public awareness about the harm of plastic, and it served as an example of how conscious consumption for one day can lead to long-term positive changes. Over 100 participants, including members of the youth labor detachment "Zhasyl El", volunteers, and active district residents, attended the event.
During the flash mob, a mobile eco-point was set up in Uchiteley square. This eco-point offered exchanges of used single-use plastic utensils for eco-friendly items like paper napkins, reusable bags, and more. The event aimed to promote eco-friendly alternatives in daily life and demonstrated the ease of replacing single-use items with eco-friendly alternatives.
The challenge #1KunPlastiksiz, where "Zhasyl El" members refrained from using plastic for a day, received special attention. Participants of the ecological flash mob shared their eco-habits on social media using hashtags #1KunPlastiksiz, #ZhasylEl, and #BayqongyrWithoutPlastic.
The event was part of the nationwide initiative "Taza Qazaqstan". By participating in this ecological flash mob, the residents of Bayqongyr took a step towards promoting a cleaner and greener future, not just for their city, but for the entire nation.
